she had me drowning in her smile from the start
that girl subdued every part of me
she burned ignition to my gasoline heart
but we never got far did we
things were so simple when we drove to the lake
before a costly mistake to come
she brought her love and trust with daggers and knives
and i ignored any call to run
and then she cut me open
and left me broken into pieces
i needed faith and healing
but she just took the pieces that she needed
she took me hostage
and she put me underground
no one could hear me make a sound now
she took me hostage
and she made sure to leave a mark
she did her worst work in the dark now
she traced her finger down the line of my jaw
her scent and touch gave me a feeling, real and raw
her heart became a barrier
my loudest screams could never reach her
she took me hostage
and she put me underground
no one could hear me make a sound now
she took me hostage
and there were no words i could say
to ever take her pain away
ripping each of your thorns out to break free
and i'm still taking all the damage and the fire with me
is this what you would tell your diary while i lay broke?
Taking cues from Midwestern emo and early ’10 pop punk, this Leeds, UK outfit are full of heart— not to mention hooks. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 21, 2022
On their self-titled debut, Pkew Pkew Pkew deliver roaring, in-the-red, gang-shouted rock songs about pizza, beer, and...pizza and beer. Bandcamp Album of the Day Jul 29, 2016
Truly amazing record. Whiskey-soaked vocals, tight melodies and fantastic lyrics roll together in a wash of punk energy. More akin to an amped up JAWBREAKER or a revved up BEACH SLANG than pop-punk, there isn't a weak track on it. Excellent. Pick of the week for sure... Michael F.
